We are no longer accepting Parent Applications and Camper Surveys for the 2013 Summer Science Sleuths at Duke. Teacher Nominations will be accepted until March 5, 2013.
If you are a curious, bright, fun-loving current 7th or 8th grader and your many interests include science, then Summer Science Sleuths at Duke is just the camp for you!
Through games, experiments, social events, puzzles, hands-on projects and recreation, campers will explore the connections between science, medicine and the everyday world. Have you ever wondered how to make creamy ice cream or how medicines are made from plants or how optical illusions work? Tune your senses to the awesome world around you and come explore it with us.
Summer Science Sleuths at Duke is a recreational, residential 2-week summer camp on the campus of Duke University in Durham, N.C. Campers who are selected to attend will receive full tuition and travel scholarships to join us June 16-June 29, 2013.
Note: Only students who are currently in 7th or 8th grades may apply. The 7th grade group is filled with new applicants. It is the first level of camp.
Returning 8th graders who participated in the 2012 Summer Science Sleuths at Duke will receive priority over new 8th grade applicants. Once spaces have been allocated for returning 8th grade campers, the remaining openings will be filled with new applicants who are currently in the 8th grade.
There is also a session for returning 9th graders. To participate in the 9th grade group, you must be a returning camper who has participated in Summer Science Sleuths at Duke in 2011 and/or 2012 AND you must have received an invitation to return for the session for current 9th graders. No new applicants for the 9th grade session are accepted.
